New Semester

Hey sorry for not posting anything in awhile but I guess I just forgot about this.
About two weeks ago my cousin and I were mentioning his birthday coming up and he was going to be 20. I had to stop and think about that cause 20 is pretty old. That's gonna be me next year and that's pretty crazy. I am sure I mentioned this but dang, time does really go by fast. Anyways now to more important matters, or at least to me. My classes this semester are pretty interesting so far. Although its harder than last year, I actually stay awake in most of them now. There's this wind turbine project that I have to do in my engineering class and we're supposed to build blades for a windmill and the structure for it. They have this machine that carves out any shape out of this weird plastic/glue and the students get to design the shape using this program. Everything about that class seems professional and there's nothing really not to like.. although there are a lot of guys in that class. Outside of class I haven't been participating in any activities which I should. My day ends at 2:45 usually and I don't do anything except sit in my dorm. So I am going to start looking for something to do starting this week. believe it!

Second Semister

So far the semester has been pretty smooth, although it's probably gonna be harder than last semester. I'm taking Calculus 2, English, Communications, Education Exploration, and Intro to Engineering. My teachers are pretty cool, the only problem with my classes is that I have a hard time staying awake especially in the afternoon classes. One of my teachers goes barefoot while teaching the communications class. He says its better for his back and that it fits into his spirituality. That class seems fun just because it was the only class where the class was divided into groups and you got to know one another. In all of my other classes there's not really a chance to introduce yourself or anything. Also my Edco class seems easy. It's a class exploring different majors and stuff. The teacher guaranteed us that if we choose a major to get rich, it won't happen. I don't believe that statement since guarantee is such a strong word. But I get her message. She also said that a previous student shocked her when he/she told her, "Everyone has to work. You might as well make it count." And with that I just hope I choose the right major and whatnot. This class and comm class look like the easiest so far. My others are pretty straight forward and rigorous. My books are expensive as usual and it's a pain to get them too. Well I'm looking forward to this semester and I hope I don't slack off. Alright that's all for now. Happy Chinese New Year!

Hometown

Recently I have been going to this park nearby to play some basketball. I saw the same two guys who were there last time so I played with them again. There are not too many people who go and it's probably because no one knows about it. The park is on Hyde Street and if you have ever been there, it's this steep street with the cable cars. It's also on That's So Raven and I think Full House. But yeah it's a really nice park. It feels like you're on top of the city looking down on everything. So I decided to bring my camera to take some pictures on the way up to the park. Here ya go

UC Davis

On Wednesday and Thursday, my friends and I drove up to UC Davis to visit some high school friends. The ride there was entertaining although the Bay Bridge traffic wasn't too fun. Well we finally got to UC Davis and visited our friends who I will not mention due to the fact that there are stalkers and that I am too lazy to type them all out. But we were treated to dinner at their dining commons which was probably one of the best cafeterias everrr. There were sofas in the middle with board games just waiting to be played. There were soda fountains every where and they even had GOOD tasting foods. I had salad, pizza breads, and cereal for dinner along with a vanilla frozen yogurt. And this was just during the late hour period so there were not as much variety out. At San Jose, there it probably only one item that tastes good and that is probably the churros. The rest of the cafeteria's food is there just to fill you up. After we ate we hung out at our friends' dorms and slept overnight. Our hosts had class early the next morning so we let them have a good 3 hour sleep when we got to have 8 or so. We walked around the campus to look for the arcade which took us only about an hour to do so. There we played in the arcade which was pretty nice and also went bowling afterwards. Bowling was pretty fun mainly because I got first place with a score of 103. After that we just hung out and talked about good times.

During the first day we were at UC Davis I felt pretty depressed, especially when I ate at their fancy dining commons. The campus looked so nice and kept clean. It made San Jose State look so bad. It made me think that I should have worked harder in high school and have got accepted to all these UC schools. Even the bathrooms were so nice. San Jose's bathrooms are disgusting 27/7. There is always either barf or cup and noodle left overs in the sink. And for some reason people in San Jose just don't like to flush the toilet. It seems so run down compared to Davis and it made me think. The next day we ran into more friends and I got to ask a lot of them how they liked it there. And all of them pretty much said it was either "ok" or "it sucks." I was in shock and almost angry that they didn't like such a nice campus compared to my school. But they were saying how there wasn't much to do just like how it is with San Jose. That made me glad that they did not really like their school.. and I'm not trying to sound like a jerk but I realized that it doesn't matter which school you go to or if you go to college at all. It depends on what you do with what you have. I'm not saying that I do more at San Jose either.. its probably even less. But although my school has some crappy dorms and crappy food, I still appreciate going there and that I actually can get an education. I don't regret going to San Jose..even though I didn't have too much choices.. I just hope I don't regret not making the best of my time here. If that triple negativity made any sense.. go spartans!

winter break

Horay finally winter break has arrived. My finals were easier than I thought but I'm still waiting on the results.. Although my chemistry final was pretty rough which was on last Thursday. I had set my alarm clock for 9:00 but somehow I didn't hear it or something and I woke up at 9:50 when my final starts at 9:45. So I grabbed my jacket and backpack and sprinted out of the dorm. I got pretty tired when I got into the lecture hall which wasn't too far away from my dorm. Everyone had started already and were concentrating pretty hard so I didn't attract much attention. The professor was cool about tests and left one on each desk and allowed you to take it no matter how late you are, just that you get less time of course. Well about half an hour through the test, the lights went out and it was pitch black. The whole campus had a blackout and people started talking and stuff. Then one of my friends behind me whips out a flashlight and keeps on working on his final Haha. Who brings a flashlight with them to a final? I guess he was the one who caused the blackout.. Hah but yeah the lights eventually turned on about fifteen minutes later, which later added on time at the end of the test and that made up for my lateness. I felt pretty good throughout most of the test and hopefully I passed chem.. My calculus final was not too hard either. I know I didn't get an A but hopefully a B. But yeah Thursday was such a stressful day and I'm just glad its the break. During the weekend I went to Olive Garden with my cousin and my friend which was pretty good. I got a gift for Kristine's debut the next night which was alright. The food was good and it was cool seeing some high school friends again. Other than that I have been pretty much sitting at home and enjoying the break. Next semester I'm going to be taking 5 classes worth 16 units. I think it's going to be rough but I'm also looking forward to it. One thing's for sure is that college is a lot harder than high school. You actually have to study and earn your grades haha.

Thanksgiving weekend

Thanksgiving break was pretty awesome for me. I got to see my family and friends and enjoyed some scrumptious food. On Wednesday I went back to SF and hung out with some of my high school friends at Marc's house. I can't remember where we went to eat but it was getting late so I hurried to take the bart home. I got to the bart station at 1am about and waited for the train. I then realized that no trains were coming so I asked the bart assistant man and he said that bart running to SF stop at 12. So Angelo picked me up and some of us went to Starbucks. At Starbucks I ran into my middle school friend which was pretty random along with another highschool friend. Yup Starbucks is the place to be. So yeah I slept over at Marc's place and Tiff was able to drive me to bart the next morning.

On Thanksgiving day my mom's side of the family came over for lunch which was a first. Most of the family showed up and we had a good time eating and also celebrating my cousin's and my brother's birthdays. That same evening, my dad's side of the family came for dinner and we had almost the same foods Hah. I was still pretty full from lunch so I didn't really eat a whole lot. I also saw Kung Fu Panda which was a pretty good movie.

On Black Friday, I met up with some of my high school friends and hung out in downtown.. which wasn't the greatest idea. Most of the sales were gone but there were still a lot of people roaming around.. especially at night. I got a pair of jeans which I needed since two of my three jeans have holes in them. And the holes are at the same place for both of the jeans. I think its cause I keep my phone in my right pocket and brush against it a lot.. Well I got to downtown around 1 ish and we hung around until it was dinner time. I was able to catch the lighting of the Union Square Christmas tree which was alright. It was really crowded though so it took awhile to get to Dan's house. For dinner we went to Red Robins. It was either that or Chucky Cheese but I forgot my report card at home so it was Red Robins. I thought we would've gone to a little higher class of a restaurant but knowing us, Red Robins was even pushing it. It was good though. There were about sixteen of us and we rolled out in four cars. It was pretty a intense ride. I rode with Titus and when you ride with him with his pokemon theme song bumping, you better put on your seatbelt. I think he hit 90+ with traffic. but he's a good driver so we survived. After we ate, we went to Kasey's castle to hang out. Every time I go there I get lost and I have to call for Alfred to guide me back to the elevator. After Kasey's he drove me back home in his batmobile and that was my weekend. I relaxed on Saturday and headed back for San Jose on Sunday.

Good old days

So today was quite a fun day. I went paintballing with my cousins and friends of my oldest cousin. It was a fun experience and a lot better than halo haha. Although it hurts like crazy, it was worth it. I got hit in the head and thats probably the worst. The masks only cover your face so the top and back of your head is exposed. I could go into more detail but I think it would seem boring reading it off this thing, so if you see me around ask me about paintballing. hahah ok that was a useless post.

But anyways I just went through my small CD collection listened to some of the songs I used to listen to back in jr. high. Since mp3's weren't super popular yet, CD players were still the cool thing to have. I remember my old friend Cathy would give me CD's and recommendations about artists/bands. So recently I started listening to those songs and it made me laugh because I was into hip hop/rap back then. Theres all these songs by Ashanti, Usher, Chingy, and etc. Ah man I can't believe that I used to listen to this stuff. Anyways one song in particular I used to listen to a lot was Into You ft Ashanti. When I heard this song, so many memories rushed through my head about my experiences during middle school. I remember I would listen to my CD player before I go to sleep and this was one played a lot hahaha. Man that's embarrassing.. but I miss those days and my old school. I busted out my yearbook and read what people wrote on the covers. Almost everyone put some version of "K.I.T." (keep in touch) and its like uhh nope.. I guess its one of those in the moment kind of things. I also just realized that I am getting old and fast. College already and I still act like a kid. Well one of those things people have to except. But those sure were the good old days.
